Bayer Earns Top Marks In 2018 Corporate Equality Index

WHIPPANY, N.J., Nov. 14, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- For the first time, Bayer has received a perfect score of 100 percent on the 2018 Corporate Equality Index (CEI), a nationwide benchmarking survey and report on corporate policies and practices important to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) workplace equality, administered by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation. Bayer joins the ranks of 609 major businesses which also earned top marks this year.

"We are extremely proud to receive this honor from the HRC, which is the gold standard when it comes to examining company policies and practices affecting the LGBTQ community," said Philip Blake, President of Bayer U.S. "We recognize the importance of fostering, cultivating and preserving a culture of diversity and inclusion. Supporting the LGBTQ community is not just good policy, it's good business. We want to thank all of Bayer's U.S. employees who worked so tirelessly to achieve this perfect score."

Bayer's Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) are an integral part of the company's diversity and inclusion efforts. ERGs like BLEND, Bayer's global community for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender employees and their allies, provide a voice to colleagues and advocate for openness and respect for all employees.

The 2018 CEI evaluates LGBTQ-related policies and practices including non-discrimination workplace protections, domestic partner benefits, transgender-inclusive healthcare benefits, competency programs and public engagement with the LGBTQ community. Bayer's efforts in satisfying all of the CEI's criteria results in a 100 percent ranking and the designation as a Best Place to Work for LGBTQ Equality.
