Head of Human Resources, U.S.
Lisa Massa is the head of Human Resources for Bayer in the U.S. Prior to joining Bayer in August 2018 Lisa was the Human Resources, Global Total Rewards Lead for Monsanto Company. In that role she had responsibility for the global philosophies and strategies for compensation, equity plans, incentive plans, executive compensation and benefits for Monsanto’s 22,000 employees in approximately 65 countries.
Prior to that, Lisa was Monsanto’s Vice President of Human Resources, Global Commercial. In this role Lisa and her team partnered closely with Monsanto business leaders across all world regions to ensure a diverse and engaged workforce to continue to help farmers around the world use Monsanto products and services to increase their productivity and overall sustainability.
Previously, Lisa led HR for the Monsanto Row Crops business in the US. In that role, Lisa’s team led the redesign of the U.S. Row Crops business to enhance Monsanto’s multi-brand approach to market and push decision-making closer to customers. Lisa also lived in Switzerland for three years and led HR for Monsanto’s Row Crops business in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA). While in EMEA, Lisa played a key role in the redesign of the Row Crops business, drove leadership development strategy during a period of great change, and was instrumental in establishing a people strategy for Monsanto’s growing business in Eastern Europe.
Lisa started her career in HR with United Technologies Corporation working in its aerospace and then automotive businesses. She has also held HR leadership positions with Pharmacia, the Danforth Plant Science Center and American Standard.
Lisa was born and raised in Southern Illinois. She graduated from Illinois Wesleyan University with a degree in psychology and has a Master’s degree in human resource management and labor relations from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
Lisa is an active leader in her community where she currently serves on the Boards of Directors for the Greater Missouri Leadership Foundation, Youth In Need and the Midwest Health Initiative. Lisa and her husband Mark live in Chesterfield, Missouri, and are the proud parents of two children, Zachery and Haley.
