Head of Health, Safety & Environment, U.S.
Rod Denton is the head of Health, Safety & Environment for Bayer in the U.S. In this role, he is responsible for the safe, compliant operations for all of Bayer’s facilities in the U.S. and that of its 20,000+ employees working in those sites. Rod joined Bayer in August 2018 from Monsanto where he previously was the Environmental, Safety & Health (ESH) Lead and was responsible for ESH compliance and performance for the approximately 350 Monsanto facilities around the world.
Rod was also a member of Monsanto’s Office of Sustainability, responsible for the establishment and execution of the company’s corporate Sustainability and Social Responsibility strategy.
In his most recent previous role, Rod was the Asia Supply Chain Lead responsible for Procurement, Planning, Manufacturing and Customer Operations within India, China and Southeast Asia. Prior to that, Rod led Global Crop Protection Manufacturing for Monsanto’s chemical operations.
Rod joined Monsanto in 1993 and thereafter held a number of senior plant chemical and pharmaceutical operations roles throughout the U.S. and Canada. Prior to Monsanto, Rod worked in the oil and gas industry located in Alberta, Canada.
Rod received his Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from the University Saskatchewan and later earned his MBA from Tulane University. He lives in St. Louis, Missouri with his wife, Cindy, where he is active in the community serving in various capacities to strengthen the overall St. Louis region.
